My Early College Radio Days

When I first went away to college back in the early 1990s I had an interest in doing college radio. In my first early days of college, out of high school, I wanted to play vinyl records for a radio show at a college in East Rutherford, NJ. At this particular college I learned something about reel to reel editing which was back then cutting up tape in order to edit your radio show. I first learned how to cue up vinyl records on fancy DJ turntables back then for the first time as well. I learned a lot about the old-fashioned way of college radio back in the early 1990s. I will always remember how I was trained to play vinyl records on an old-fashioned DJ turntable. My first attempt at college radio way back in the day, will always be remembered because I actually recorded some of my training on an old-fashioned blank cassette tape. It’s amazing how far technology has come especially when it comes to doing a college radio show.
